Jayhawk Releases Statement Regarding JUBS End of Life
At Jayhawk Software, we understand the importance of keeping our customers informed of changes in technology and how those changes affect the use of Jayhawk products. With Microsoft’s recent release of Windows 10, we have no control over how this will impact some of the JUBS products that some of you may still be using. (If you will recall, we made a similar announcement for older versions of JUBS in 2013/14, and are currently only supporting the most recent version on JUBS) We are continuing to research this and will continue to do what we can to ensure that you are able to continue to use JUBS S4R3/3.5 as long as possible. However, we are estimating that it is likely that JUBS will reach end of life sometime within the next 24 months or less. Due to the continual updates that will come with Windows 10, we cannot guarantee at any given point that an update released by Microsoft could cause JUBS to become non-functional on the newer Windows technology. Considering that JUBS uses technology that is more than 20 years old, we are grateful we were able to keep it going this long. However, although we always strive for excellent, timely support, logistics out of our control are beginning to influence making JUBS support more difficult for us to continue at our high standard.
Therefore, we would recommend that our customers be pro-active in taking the necessary steps to prepare for an upgrade to one of our other billing solutions, so that you have plenty of time to budget for the cost of the upgrade and training. We offer two possible replacements for the JUBS system. The first is Jayhawk Utility Suite (JUS), which has been in circulation for almost 10 years and will operate on Windows 10 and possibly other future versions of Windows. We have hundreds of installs of JUS and our customers really seem to like the additional features they gain with JUS over JUBS. The other option is the NEW billing product currently in development and set for “expected” release in June 2016.
