Maintaining Compatibility with Microsoft Upgrades

Maintaining Compatibility with Microsoft Upgrades

Compatibility

No one wants to upgrade their computer when everything seems to be working, but in order to ensure that everything continues to function, upgrades are necessary. Over the years, Jayhawk Software products have performed well on a number of Microsoft Operating Systems and SQL Server versions, but many of these are no longer supported by Microsoft. This lack of support has prompted us to develop a set of minimum standards for installing and running Jayhawk Software programs.   Technology is no exception to the rule with it comes to the old saying that “change is inevitable”.

Are You EMV Compliant?

EMV compliant, Jayhawk Software, card securityAre You EMV Compliant?

You may have already heard about the future EMV credit card acceptance requirement. As of October 1st, 2015, all card reading equipment must be upgraded to accept EMV chip-enabled cards. There is a liability shift that has occurred where merchants who do not have EMV-ready equipment will be held liable for damages in the event that cardholder information is compromised.

Therefore, if you want to continue to process card transactions in your city via a “swipe” equipment method, it is important that you commence the necessary steps to protect your entity from any liability by switching to an EMV Compliant payment processing vendor. Currently, we have already completed one software interface, and are in the process of developing more, with our partners at PACE Payment Systems and Payment Services Network (PSN). (Your interface will be fully established once you have usernames and passwords setup for your customers)

The Jayhawk electronic payment module interface is now available for purchase and is the same price regardless of which vendor you choose. The vendors we are currently working with each provide a variety of services to meet your needs, including no cost options for your city by way of convenience fees to your customers.

Please view our previous News posts about these vendors for more information about what each of these providers has to offer so that you can choose the one that best meets your needs. You will want to start this process as soon as possible as this shift in liability has already gone into effect.

If you have any questions, or if you are ready for a quote for an interface with one of the above vendors, please email sales@jayhawksoftware.com or call us at 620-365-5156.

Jayhawk Releases Statement Regarding JUBS End of Life

Jayhawk Releases Statement Regarding JUBS End of Life

At Jayhawk Software, we understand the importance of keeping our customers informed of changes in technology and how those changes affect the use of Jayhawk products.   With Microsoft’s recent release of Windows 10, we have no control over how this will impact some of the JUBS products that some of you may still be using.  (If you will recall, we made a similar announcement for older versions of JUBS in 2013/14, and are currently only supporting the most recent version on JUBS)   We are continuing to research this and will continue to do what we can to ensure that you are able to continue to use JUBS S4R3/3.5 as long as possible.  However, we are estimating that it is likely that JUBS will reach end of life sometime within the next 24 months or less.
